Know Google IO
Google IO is known for its highly technical, in-depth sessions focused on building the web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google. It is believed that IO in the word stands for Input Output but it has another meaning to it which is Innovation in the Open. The first one held in the year 2008 and since then it has become an annual feature event of Google.
There are less than 12 hours left in the Google IO 2016 to begin, so let’s take a sneak-peek into what is going to happen over 72 hours at this highly anticipated event.
Android N
Putting all things at rest, the first thing we expect is the revelation on ‘N’ of the latest Android 7.0 version. What does this ‘N’ stand for? We all have been guessing and scratching our heads on this since its first teaser.
The updates of developer version are slated to end by July and later we can expect some devices to be preloaded with this OS. This year’s Nexus device which is rumoured to be developed by HTC will surely have Android N and it is scheduled to be out by September.
Android VR
Facebook has already laid its vision on the Virtual Reality in the F8 Event held two months ago. Google is believed to be doing something to get back on facebook over this technology. The first schedule shows around 7 sessions and 1 content track dedicated to Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
Google’s cardboard had already been very popular when it was launched and now is known to be focusing more on 360 videos and YouTube quality. Apart from designing its own VR and AR chips, Google is looking forward to partner for better Cardboard viewers that are made out of plastic.
Google Auto
A division of Google that is looking to the development and testing of self-driving Smart Cars. In last year’s event, it said that it would release such cars in 2016 on the streets of Mountain View. So, we expecting that taking the opportunity of IO 2016, Google may give a demo of one of its self-driving cars.
Earlier Google had a tie-up with Fiat Chrysler to manufacture car using its self-driving technology. Leaving apart the first self-driving car accident, Google will prove that the technology it is working on is much safer and reliable.
Project Brillo
Announced at last IO 2015, it is the IoT-based operating system of Google. This year we are waiting for something more on Brillo how it will be used in other devices based on Weave or Nest.
Also, it may come up with a device that can beat Amazon’s Echo and connect to Smart Home devices and become your Virtual Assistant. Some of new Nest product can also be expected this year with improved connectivity and security features for Home.
So, the event schedule is up on the IO 2016 page but then that’s all just an outline. Google is known for its surprises at such events. Follow the LetsNurture twitter handle to get all the updates live from the Google IO 2016 event.
