VIEWSWe have already discussed in brief about usage of Smart Lights in our previous blog on Smart Homes. One of the major segment of the group that makes a home smarter is lights. The way we are running out of our energy resources it has been vital to understand the need and functionality of Smart Lights.
Until the LEDs were not produced commercially, electric lighting was simply an electrical signal which could pass through a wire to a bulb, where electrical energy was converted into light energy. Things have changed with the recent development in the field of LED, paving way for new modes of lighting while simultaneously utilise that electric signal to convert the light for sending and collecting data.
A light would be smart when it has sensing capabilities that use its own light to control things. A Smart Light would have multiple applications such as privately sensing the occupancy of a room, autonomous lighting management systems and communicating with other smart devices.

Likewise blue gives a feel of stability and red reflects passion and love. Such smart lights will sense your mood and analyse it with your activity patterns through some wearable device to get the right light.
You may think it is strange but it is not. Color of Light has great impact on your body. Our body does respond as per the lighting around us, yellow lights make you feel warmer while the blue lights make you feel cool. Use automatic light timers throughout the house and have them turn on and off in a way that simulates your normal patterns. Using timers that have more than one on-off cycle can create the illusion of movement from room to room. In search of a switch, if you ever got collided with a table or a rack during dark, you would understand that how important is it to have motion sensors connected to a mobile app that would trigger the light to switch on, in case of any movement around it and save you from getting collide again.
The Smart Lights are so smart because with all these comforts, well-being and security, they ensure you do your bit to save your planet and your electricity bills too. If all your lights work as per the need rather than to be on all the time, then of course less units will be consumed than your usual consumption. Smart lighting involves utilising the natural light and reduce the usage of man made light making it most energy efficient technology.
In future, Smart Lighting Systems will be a tightly knit interaction of lighting sources, light sensors, and controls that mediate system level performance and interface to smart building and smart grid platforms.
