If you are a developer you must atleast have some basic understanding of JavaScript and there are good chances that you might enjoy working with it too. After all it is a comparatively easy programming language to work with. The beauty of it is that along with being simple it has a relatively open architecture. This means it is open to have more functionalities. This is why it is used in multi-platform Mobile application development using HTML 5 in development frameworks like PhoneGap and Titanium.
But according to a recent survey by Forrester Research, JavaScript tops yet another category. It is apparently the programming language of choice for developing applications for cloud based systems.
The Winner
JavaScript has beat Java, PHP, C#, Python and Ruby. When the respondent developers were asked the use of which programming language was going to increase in the future the majority of respondents replied with Javascript, followed closely by
- Java,
- Python,
- Ruby,
- C# and
- PHP.
The Loser
Unfortunately when asked the use of which programming language was going to decrease in the future the majority of the respondents replied with Java. Following closely on the list in decreasing order were
- PHP,
- Ruby,
- Python
- JavaScript
- C#
So if you are a fan of the programming language, now may be the time for wearing it like a badge of honour.
