Apart from deciding whether to develop MVP first or full-fledged app itself, curiosity & confusion of opting either hybrid or native technology, haunts a lot to entrepreneurs. If you are one of those, this article can help you to decide your approach within a minute or so.
Before we proceed further, Let me first give you a brief about Hybrid & Native App:-
Hybrid apps are developed using HTML, CSS and Javascript, and then wrapped in a native application using platforms like Cordova or any other similar platform. It can be easily deployed across multiple platform. The application development is faster, simpler, more rapid and easier to maintain.
Each mobile platform offers developers their own development tools, interface elements and standardized SDK. What distinguishes native apps from the alternatives mentioned is that they are designed and coded for a specific kind of device. For instance, iPhone apps are written in Objective-C, Android apps in Java, etc.
In order to quickly decide whether you should adapt a hybrid approach or native approach, please go through below shared 4 important criteria and pick either of them as your priority that matters you the most, and then you are through.
If you have enough funding so that you can pay multiple developers for same app being coded using native sdk of respective devices, go for native app development, else Hybrid should be your option.
There are many native features i.e. Camera, Contacts, SMS, Hardware Device Buttons etc. which you may or may not have access if you choose to get your app developed using Hybrid technology, depending on the framework that you adopt to develop. If your app is very much comprehensive and dependent on native phone capability, then native app development will work best.
How quickly do you want your app to go live in app store? There is a throat cutting competition out there in the market. Same ideas are being pitched by more than just one entrepreneur. Every market has a life cycle, and every opportunity thus has a limited window of time before it expires. For such apps, it becomes very much important to introduce your app to your targeted customer as quickly as possible. If this is the case with your app, then go for Hybrid app, make it viral and once you start generating revenue, start working on native app development.
If you are developing an app that requires some innovative user experience, don’t think much and go for native app development. Hybrid app can never match the the level of creative user experience that you get in native apps.
