VIEWSToday we are going to bring light on a very handy tool for designer all around. We have all heard about Photoshop and know how much it is an intrinsic part of their work. But yet it is only just a powerful graphics editor. What we are discussing today is intrinsically meant for designers. The software that we are talking about is of course Adobe Fireworks. It is highly recommended for website designing.
If you are wondering what to call this software then you might get a headache, because when software is so versatile it sometimes cannot be given an identity other than its own. The best thing that you can do is know what you can do with it.
The main purpose is to be a bitmap and vector graphics editor for creating highly optimized graphics for the web, screen or various media. It can function as a prototyping and wireframing tool as well. The key words here are “highly optimized”. This is why you have to work along Firework’s constraints: it supports only RGB/RGBa colors and the maximum canvas size of its files is approximately 10,000×10,000 pixels)
The reason why it is so great is that it allows you to design websites, UI, Rich Internet Application (RIA) which you can edit as both raster and vector. Fireworks has all the features to speed up web design and you can use it to develop interactive wireframes and prototypes.
Fireworks allows you to export your work to almost all popular image formats. In fact you can export graphics directly to PNG8 alpha+index transparency format which means that the image displays correctly even if displayed in IE 6 and 7.Impressed much? The native file format of
Fireworks is editable PNG; it simply stores additional metadata for layers, animation, vector data, text, effects. Since it is a vector mobile application development for iOS is also easy.
