The most anticipated tech conference of the month is over. We as the part of developer community were eager to know what the new products facebook will introduce through at F8 event and what the future Mr. Zuckerberg has envisioned for this world’s biggest community serving company.
The two day event looked like a star studded show with the products shining high. Facebook unveiled the future of Messenger, live video, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, virtual reality and internet-beaming satellites at the annual F8 conference in San Francisco. But something that has got our attention the most was Chatbots because its gonna be great help to business community to reach out.
Here is a list of technologies that we found most interesting in this year’s F8 event:
Oculus’ VR
Facebook is betting heavily on the gaming industry via Oculus. The technology in Oculus is what Facebook suggest social VR which is going to connect two or more real people in virtual world.
Currently this concept is at very early stage to talk about but what we saw at F8 was something very unique. Two people at different location of the world goes to VR world and meet at third location, enjoy its locales, discuss things and even take selfies with their VR avatars. Yes, it’s gonna be really interesting.
Surround 360
It is a Virtual Reality Camera that is equipped with 17 lens modules in a circular way such as to take a view of everything around in one shot. It is most likely to be in competition to Google’s Jump which also a VR video capture platform.
It is designed to capture high-quality 3D-360 videos. Its hardware comes with a stitching code which is soon to be available on the GitHub. You can creates panorama images as well as 8K video which are supported by VR gears.
Facebook Live
Facebook has been trying to build itself around video streaming because it understands that video has a great reach today. Again it is trying to make its place where Google’s YouTube has made quite a mark and is widely used video platform with 4 billion daily video views.
With Live, Facebook is trying to tap in the live streaming section of the mobile video platforms. There are apps like Periscope and Meerkat which are already streaming live videos through mobile but Facebook’s massive reach will bring the technology to a wider audience than ever. The added functions of live comments, likes, video filters, etc are sure to add a charm in it.
Terragraph and ARIES
Facebook believes that only way it can increase its revenues is by have more people on its platforms. So to fuel this vision Facebook had started Free Basics, which unfortunately got shelved in India but that cannot hold back Mr Zuckerberg.
Terragraph and ARIES, both projects use terrestrial antennae to provide network facilities to those unreached areas. Terragraph places Wi-Fi enabled antennas on electricity poles, lamp-posts, etc to cover nearby areas. ARIES (Antenna Radio Integration for Efficiency in Spectrum) covers larger area by connecting antennas in arrays to beam Wi-Fi quite like the 4G network standards.
ChatBot
No one had ever thought to use chat for the business purpose, just because they were suppose to be informal communications. Chatbot is AI based chat option, by which businesses can now make their own chat representative for the Messenger to tackle the most reasonable queries by the customers.
These is austere software that interpret anything you type or say and accordingly respond by answering or executing the command. Most popular bot currently is Apple’s Siri. But facebook has taken a leap from these personal bots by amalgamating two most popular technologies – instant messaging and artificial-intelligence.
The world is moving too fast and you need to keep up your pace with it. Technology is getting better every moment and every business in hopping on to embrace the technology that suits it.
