AR and VR is widely used in industries like gaming, retail, hospitality, tourism, manufacturing and many more. An estimation by CCS Insight states that by 2017, there would be annual sales of VR headsets of 12 million devices, with the value of augmented reality glasses worth USD1.2 billion.

VR and AR require large volumes of data, when headsets and other displays are wirelessly connected networks must support the transport of data with low latencies and high reliability as most of the applications for AR and VR are real-time.
